This fire extinguishing granulate is the perfect solution for safely storing and effectively extinguishing lithium-polymer batteries in case of fire. How It Works
The granulate is gently poured onto the burning material. The expanded glass granules envelop the fire and smother it. At very high temperatures, the granules melt and spread across the surface of the burning metal. The resulting molten layer seals the fire from oxygen and solidifies upon cooling, creating an airtight crust that prevents re-ignition.
Applications
Extinguishing agents are used to suppress fires based on their specific fire class and environment. Our fire extinguishing granulate is suitable for fire loads of Class D and Lithium-Ion. It allows safe suppression and extinguishing of metal fires, battery fires, lithium fires, and combustible liquids — all without causing secondary damage from extinguishing agents.
Certified Effectiveness
The extinguishing performance of Extover® was tested and certified by MPA Dresden using sodium and magnesium fires. For best results, the granulate should be applied directly onto the fire so that the source is completely covered. We recommend a coverage layer of 10 to 30 cm above the burning material, depending on the size of the fire.
Packaging and Storage
The granulate is supplied in a high-quality metal bucket made of tinplate, both internally and externally uncoated, UN-tested, and approved for hazardous materials. The buckets are space-saving, easy to stack, and allow optimal emptying through a wide opening.
The rimless, thin container edge enables clean pouring. The bucket is delivered with a matching lid, tension ring, and safety pin. The lid is secured with the ring and additional safety pin to ensure tight sealing during transport or mechanical impact. A rubber gasket in the lid provides excellent sealing and long-term storage stability. The UN approval code is 1A2/Y/100/... (stamped on the container).
