Seized smartphones, laptops and two-way radios often bring lithium batteries into evidence storage. When their condition is unknown or damage is suspected, a key question arises: how can preventive fire protection be incorporated into existing storage spaces?
SmoliTec addresses this with a concept combining Extover bags and powder-coated metal trays. Devices sit inside trays with raised edges. Several bags containing fine Extover granulate are placed loosely overlapping on top, covering the entire surface of each device.
Fine granulate positioned above the device
When exposed to sufficient heat from a fire, the bag cover opens and releases the mineral granulate. The material falls onto the device below and forms a protective covering layer. This release requires neither manual activation nor an electrical power supply.
The metal tray retains released granulate within the designated storage space. Together, the bag arrangement and tray design provide a protective structure within the shelf compartment.
Configured for the storage application
Extover is made from mineral recycled glass and is non-combustible. The bag cover, granulate quantity and coverage must be matched to the device, its battery and the storage conditions.
The concept is intended for police departments, public authorities and other organisations storing seized battery-powered devices.
